Details
The SCAT canister with 60 litres and S70/71 thread is an HPLC waste container for the collection and disposal of liquid laboratory waste. It is used in HPLC and chemical laboratories where solvent mixtures are generated and collected in an organised manner.
At 60 litres and made of electrostatic conductive PE-HD, this canister is designed for central collection of flammable solvent waste. The large volume significantly reduces change frequency and suits laboratories with several systems operated in parallel. The dimensions are 330 × 625 × 396 mm.
The S70/71 thread accepts a matching SCAT Safety Waste Cap, which is screwed on directly. The canister is made of electrostatic conductive PE-HD and thus supports equipotential bonding when handling flammable liquids; the need for this is determined by the hazard assessment. It can be integrated into the workstation's equipotential bonding via an earthing cable. Together with an optional activated carbon exhaust filter, a closed system is created that reduces emissions directly at the container and helps decrease exposure in the laboratory.
The UN-Y approval identifies the canister as design-tested dangerous goods packaging. It does not mean that any waste mixture may be transported in it – suitability and the requirements of the waste disposal contractor must be verified in advance. A transport and handling concept is required for the 60-litre canister; the weight when full makes replacement impractical without aids. The electrostatic conductive version must be properly earthed.
