The SCAT canister with 5 litres and S51 thread is an HPLC waste container for the collection and disposal of liquid laboratory waste. It is used in HPLC and chemical laboratories where solvent mixtures are generated and collected in an organised manner.
At 5 litres and with S51 thread, this canister covers workstations with moderate waste volumes. The dimensions of 145 × 250 × 190 mm result in a compact footprint. Within the container family, the S51 thread is the decisive selection criterion for the matching Safety Waste Cap.
The S51 thread accepts a matching SCAT Safety Waste Cap, which is screwed on directly. The canister is made of PE-HD, the standard material for typical HPLC waste mixtures; chemical resistance must be verified against the specific waste mixture. Together with an optional activated carbon exhaust filter, a closed system is created that reduces emissions directly at the container and helps decrease exposure in the laboratory.
The UN-X approval identifies the canister as design-tested dangerous goods packaging. It does not mean that any waste mixture may be transported in it – suitability and the requirements of the waste disposal contractor must be verified in advance. With the 5-litre canister with S51 thread, short replacement intervals should be planned. This version is not electrostatic conductive; the need for this is determined by the hazard assessment.
