The SCAT box for Politainer with 20 litres is the matching foldable outer carton for the Politainer system for collecting liquid laboratory waste. Together with the corresponding Politainer inner container it forms a UN-approved combination packaging for hazardous waste disposal. Within the Politainer system the box provides the outer protective function: it stabilises the flexible inner container and protects it during handling. Dimensions are 290 × 290 × 306 mm (W × H × D). It is unfolded before use and can be stored flat when empty. The 20-litre box is matched to the Politainer of the same size. Inner container and box are to be used as a system; the UN-Y approval applies only to the complete combination and not to either component alone. For disposal, suitability of the waste mixture, packing group and the waste contractor’s requirements must be checked in advance. A UN marking does not mean that any laboratory waste may be transported in this combination. Stored flat when empty, the box requires considerably less shelf space than a rigid container of the same capacity.
